It was a 2-1 victory over Limerick. He made 7 more appearances that season for the first team, winning the league and being promoted to the League of Ireland Premier Division. Leahy was able to experience Premier Division football in the 2010 season. He played in 13 league matches and scored his first goal of his career against Sporting Fingal on 29 October 2010. Leahy was made club captain by Martin Russell in 2011 and played 37 games in all competitions. In 2012, he played in 29 league games as UCD placed 9th. Leahy was injured and missed most of 2013’s season. However, he played in 10 of the remaining games.

Leahy signed for Limerick before the 2014 League of Ireland season. This was his first professional full-time contract. Leahy was a player in the Munster Senior Cup Final, which Limerick lost to Douglas Hall 2-1 on 27 May 2014.
