Larcher de Brito was a Portuguese citizen. When she was nine years of age, she moved to the United States with her family so that she could attend the Nick Bollettieri tennis academy in Bradenton, Florida. She remained there until the end 2007. She currently trains full-time alongside her father Antonio Larcher de Brito (Portuguese and Angola). Caroline is her mother from South Africa. Her older brothers, Sergio and Sebastiao are twins. They were born in 1989. At the age of three, she began playing tennis when her father introduced it to her at a local gym. She is a baseliner, whose key attributes are her movement and groundstrokes. She won the 2008 Revelation Award from the Fundacao Luso- Brasileira (Portuguese-Brazilian Foundation) and, as a result, appeared in the pages of Elle Portugal. She was awarded the Confederacao de Desporto Portugal (Portuguese Sports Confederation’s female athlete of year) in 2009 against rivals like Vanessa Fernandes or Telma Monteiro.
On 16 July 2008, she nearly won the best victory of her career, narrowly losing to former world number one player Serena Williams in three sets. The day before, she had beaten world number 34 Gisela Dulko in straight sets.
On 28 March 2008, on her return to the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami, she upset world No. 16 Agnieszka Radwańska in the second round. She would then lose to world No. 19 Shahar Pe’er.
