McPhee, born April 8, 1970, is an American author, talk- radio host, and five time Emmy nominated investigative reporter from Boston. She was also a columnist and reporter to the Boston Herald, as well as a correspondent for the Boston Herald and a general assignment reporter at WCVB. Now she lives in Los Angeles and is currently writing screenplays for Showtime’s City On A Hill. A HBO series is in the works based on her Newsweek Cover Story.

McPhee was appointed the first female chief of the New York Daily News’ police bureau in 2002. McPhee won the 2002 New York Society of the Siurians’ Feature news Award for her article “The Days After,” which was about the September 11th attack. McPhee was threatened with death after she published a story about the suspicions that a local judge had made of her. The anonymous letter was sent in January 2003. McPhee was also the bureau chief and appeared in media to provide expertise on New York City police matters. McPhee and Anthony H. Gair participated in a discussion about the shooting of Amadou Diallo by police officers on The Tavis Smiley Show. Guest host Tony Cox hosted the debate. McPhee was interviewed by Tony Cox on The O’Reilly Factor Fox News Channel to discuss a topic with a local September 11 charity.

From December 2007 to November 2010, McPhee hosted an evening talk show on WTKK. Her contract was not renewed, because of creative differences, and was immediately pulled from the air.

In 2008, the news magazines Dateline NBC and Primetime Live interviewed McPhee for their stories about Neil Entwistle.

McPhee started her journalism career in 1993 with The Boston Globe. McPhee was promoted to chief of the newspaper’s police bureau in 2002 by the New York Daily News. McPhee was appointed columnist for the Boston Herald in 2004. McPhee started her radio career in 2007 with an evening talk program on WTKK. McPhee started hosting her own talk show on WRKO in 2010 and began guest hosting the Howie Carr Show.
