Zetterer was first a reserve goalkeeper for the 2013-14 season behind Korbinian Müller. Manuel Baum, the head coach promoted Zetterer from reserve goalkeeper to regular goalkeeper after Muller showed weaknesses in set pieces. Zetterer made his debut at the Hallescher FC on March 1, 2014. He lost 4-2. Zetterer played in 11 of the 12 matches this season, even though Muller was back between the sheets once.
With Wolf injured Zetterer was second goalkeeper of the first team for most of the first half of the 2015–2016 season. He made his first appearance of the season in the reserve team’s 3–2 defeat of Chemnitzer FC on 1 November 2015.
In January 2015, Zetterer moved to Bundesliga side Werder Bremen. According to media reports, he signed a contract until 2018 and cost a transfer fee of €100,000. He took up the role of second reserve keeper behind Raphael Wolf and Koen Casteels. In the second half of the 2014–2015 season, Zetterer had seven appearances with Werder Bremen’s reserve team contributing to its promotion from the fourth tier Regionalliga to the 3. Liga.
Zetterer, Unterhaching’s most consistent goalkeeper in 2014-15, was the youngest of his type in the 3. Liga. His performances attracted the attention of several Bundesliga clubs and the German national youth football team.

Zetterer began playing football in Valley, Bavaria with DJK Darching. He was eleven years old when he joined the SpVgg Unterhaching youth ranks. There he played in all the youth and senior reserve teams. He signed a three-year professional contract in December 2012 that lasted from 2013 to 2016.
Zetterer was first nominated in August 2014 for the Germany U20 national soccer team. He has won four caps so far.
