In Santa Monica, California, in 1957. Joan and Albert, his parents, moved their family (siblings Amy, Jack, and their children) to Massachusetts in 1959, settling in Concord. Spound’s first acting experience was with the Concord Players, where he was part of the ensemble of The King and I (1964), and the role of Billy (1965). After studying Film and Theatre in 1979, he attended The Fenn School of Concord (1966-1971), Phillips Academy Andover (1971-1975), and Northwestern University.

Spound was the Broadway actor who played Rob Stein in Jon Tolins’ The Twilight of the Golds. He also did the National Tour, which took him from the Pasadena Playhouse and The Kennedy Center. Off-Broadway and Los Angeles credits include Beau Jest (Laura Patinkin), at The Lamb’s Theatre, NYC, and the George Furth comedy Sex, Sex and Sex, at The Matrix Theatre. Also, the LA premiere of A Shayna Maidel, an Obie winner at The Tiffany Theatre, and King of Hearts with Courteney Cox at The Tiffany Theatre. Spound was also the original actor for Jack Waters in Troubled Waters opposite Cynthia Gibb, at The Court Theatre in Los Angeles.

Spound is married to Heidi Bohay, his former Hotel star. They live in Los Angeles together with their three children. Spound is the founder and teacher of Center Stage Workshop for young actors at Sherman Oaks’ Whitefire Theatre.

American actor and writer Michael David Spound was born April 8, 1957.

Spound was offered the role of lead in Paramount/ABC TV’s pilot Homeroom, opposite Ally Sheedy, within six months of his arrival in Los Angeles (1981). He and Dana Olsen co-wrote the feature film Wacko, starring Joe Don Baker and Stella Stevens. In the early ’80s, he guest starred on television shows Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley and Family Ties. He was the first cast member of the ABC series Hotel pilot, which starred James Brolin and Connie Sellecca, as well as Bette Davis. The pilot was shot at Fairmont San Francisco Hotel. In 1984, the series won the preferred drama award at 10th People’s Choice Awards. Hotel ran for five seasons (Anne Baxter replaced Bette Davies in the series), and Spound wed Heidi Bohay (Megan Kendall), in 1988.
