Proctor signed a loan for a month to League Two club Wrexham in March 2007. The loan was extended to the end of the 2006/07 season in April. He scored two crucial goals during this period for Wrexham’s eventual survival bid. These were the winning goal against local rivals Shrewsbury Town, and the third goal against Boston United in the 3-1 win that the Welsh club won. This resulted in Wrexham’s Football League status being preserved. Hartlepool released him in May 2007. He expressed interest in Wrexham permanent membership. In May 2007, Hartlepool confirmed this move. In May 2007, Wrexham transferred Proctor to their team. Proctor was born in Sunderland and Tyne and Wear. He began his professional career in the Sunderland youth system and signed a professional deal with them on 29 Oct 1997. Proctor made his debut in Sunderland’s League Cup against Everton on 11/11 1998. It ended in a 1-1 draw. In 2000, he was loaned out to Danish side Hvidovre to recover from a cruciate injury. In March 2001, he joined Halifax Town on a loan.
