After returning from the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in 2017, he scored the only hat trick of his senior career for Slavia Czech in his first game, 25 February 2017. It was their 8-1 win at Pribram.
He again featured heavily in the 2018–19 season, both in Slavia’s Europa League campaign that ended in the quarter finals, and domestically, where the team secured their first domestic double since 1942. At the end of the 2018–19 Czech First League season, he was voted the league’s best defender.
On 9 May 2018, he played as Slavia Prague won the 2017–18 Czech Cup final against Jablonec.

Cameroon’s national football team made him a senior player in a 2-0 victory over The Gambia to qualify for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations. He continued to play every minute of Cameroon’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations victory campaign. He scored two goals, including a clearance from the line and the winning goal against Guinea-Bissau in the group stage match. He was named the Confederation of African Football’s Tournament Defender of the Tournament.
As a young man, he trained with Canon Yaounde. He studied German for six months after he graduated from Cameroon. This was in preparation to go on to Germany to study Civil Engineering. He played in Germany for Sandhausen II, Nurnberg II, and then he transferred to Botosani, where he wore the captain’s armband.
In September 2018, he was named as captain for new manager Clarence Seedorf’s first 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying game against The Comoros.
