Dr. Ndurumo currently teaches psychology at the University of Nairobi in Kenya.
Numerous awards and honours have been given to Dr. Ndurumo. He was the Harrison-Chilhowee Baptist Academy Outstanding Alumni of the Year 2001 and received the Distinguished Service Medal from the President of Kenya in December 2000. For 2000, Dr. Ndurumo served as the Andrew Foster Visiting Professor at Gallaudet.
Dr. Ndurumo was a member of the Education of Kenya Review Commission from April 1998 to August 1999. He was an integral part of the development of special education curricula at both the undergraduate and graduate level for the University of Nairobi and Kenyatta University. He also created the University of Nairobi’s first online special education course. He is the author of a distance education module about educational psychology for Kenya Institute of Special Education. He also teaches sign language and principles of total communications at Maseno University in Kenya and Daystar University in Kenya.

In 1973, Dr. Ndurumo graduated high school from Harrison-Chilhowee Baptist Academy, Seymour (Tennessee). In 1973, he attended Gallaudet University where he began his undergraduate education. He was then transferred to Vanderbilt University for graduate studies in 1976. He received his Ph.D. with a related area in education administration and was then an assistant professor at Gardner-Webb University in North Carolina. He returned to Kenya in 1982.
Dr. Ndurumo was a Kenya Institute of Education employee from 1982 to 2003. He rose to the rank of deputy head and head of special education. In December 2003, he left the Kenya Institute of Education and became a senior lecturer at Moi University, Eldoret in Kenya. In 2009, Dr. Ndurumo transferred from Moi University to University of Nairobi where he is currently an Associate Professor of Psychology.
