Michael McMahon is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on September 12, 1957 in Staten Island, New York, United States. McMahon won the November election by a wide margin, winning 61 percent to Straniere’s 33 percent. New York City’s congressional delegation was made entirely Democratic by McMahon’s victory. This is the first time it has happened in 76 years. This was despite the fact John McCain narrowly won Staten Island in his presidential election. Since 1952, Staten Island has been occupied only four times by a Democratic presidential candidate.

McMahon, along with 38 other Democrats, voted against the Affordable Healthcare for America Act in November 2009 and against March 2010’s Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. McMahon was the only New York City representative to do so. He was also one of only two New York Democrats to vote against the Affordable Health Care for America Act in November 2009.

The 13th is considered to be the most conservative district of the 13 that divide New York City. It is based in Staten Island, which is the base of the city’s Republican Party. However, the Republicans had considerable difficulty finding a replacement for Fossella on the ballot, eventually settling on former state assemblyman Robert Straniere. As a result, nearly all major pundits believed McMahon was almost certain to win the seat. Although Democrats have a 17-point edge in registration, its voters are somewhat conservative on social issues and matters regarding “law and order”, which kept Republicans in the seat for over a quarter century.

McMahon had publicly expressed a “serious interest” for running in the 11th district 2015 special election to replace his successor Michael Grimm. Grimm, who defeated McMahon for reelection in 2010, announced his plans to resign in January after pleading guilty to a felony tax evasion charge on December 23,

2014. McMahon, however, declined to run, deciding to enter the race for Staten Island (Richmond County) District Attorney, and the Democratic nomination went to New York City Councilman Vincent J. Gentile.

McMahon was endorsed by the Staten Island Democratic Committee on May 28,

2008. He will be running for the Congressional seat of New York’s 13th Congressional District. The seat is being vacated in the 13th Congressional District by Vito Fossella, a 12-year-old Republican. McMahon beat Steve Harrison with 75% votes to Harrison’s 25% in the Democratic Party Primary. McMahon was endorsed earlier by 12 Democratic congressmen in the city, on June 11th 2008.

Later, he earned a law degree at New York Law School. After graduating from New York University, he worked as a staff member for Elizabeth Connelly and Eric Vitaliano, Democratic State Assembly members. He was appointed to the City Councilman Jerome X. O’Donovan’s staff, where he became a successful member of the Council. McMahon was a partner in O’Leary, McMahon & Spero on Staten Island before he was elected to public office.

McMahon was challenged by Republican and Conservative Party nominee Michael Grimm, a former FBI Special Agent, and Libertarian nominee Tom Vendittelli. Grimm won the election, defeating McMahon. He was one of a number of freshman Democrats who lost reelection in the GOP landslide of 2010.
