Michael Degiorgio is one of the most popular and richest Association Football Player who was born on November 15, 1962 in Pietà, Malta. Degiorgio was conceived in Pieta on 15th November 1962. He is a member of Hamrun Liberty Amateur Club and began his playing career in MAFA League.
As he gained more experience, he became a well-respected attacking midfielder on the island. He was consistent in his play and earned his first international cap against East Germany on April 4, 1981. Although Malta lost 1-2, Degiorgio’s consistent play earned him a regular spot in the National XI. He had played 77 games for Malta by the end of his playing career.
In 1989-90, he was named MFA player of the year, thus becoming only the second Ħamrun player to win this prestigious award until then. The other was, of course, the great Raymond Vella.
It was therefore a big surprise when in 1993 Ħamrun decided to transfer him to Naxxar Lions after 14 years of sterling service to the club. Degiorgio was disappointed but he swallowed his pride, rolled up his sleeves and set about helping his new club to gain promotion to the Premier Division.
He quickly caught the attention of the Hamrun Spartans committee, and was soon promoted to the senior squad. He replaced Tonio Pace on 13 October 1979 in a league match against Zebbug Rangers F.C.

Michael Degiorgio, born 15 November 1962, is a former professional Maltese footballer. He was a midfielder, and then he became a central defender at the end. He began his playing career with Hamrun Spartans, and later played for Marsaxlokk, Lija Athletic, and Naxxar Lions. He now manages Fgura.
Degiorgio was a huge success. On 10 November 1979, he played his first league match against Floriana. Degiorgio was a constant choice for the Spartans, winning four championships and six FA Trophy winner’s medals.
Degiorgio’s career with the Spartans coincided with the brightest era in the history of the club. Between 1982 and 1993, the Reds won 20 major trophies and he had a hand in every one of them.
