Sir Michael David Bear, born 21 January 1953 in Kenya Colony, was the 683rd Lord mayor of London. His one-year term started on 12 November 2010, and ended 11 November 2011. He was Alderman for the Ward of Portsoken until his resignation in 2017. Prior to that, he had been the Common Councilman and Deputy. He was elected Aldermanic Sheriff for London in 2007 for a term of one year.
Bear was Lord Mayor and played a promotion role for Square Mile. He also had a responsibility for the entire UK’s financial and professional service industry. During his Lord Mayoral term, he was also ex-officio the Chancellor at City University London. Bear, for example, opened the trading session on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange in Jul 2011.
