Avedon photographed Lottie Moss, the younger half-sister to Kate Moss, for Calvin Klein in July 2014. The shoot was held in London and featured a Calvin Klein Jeans capsule collection inspired by the ’90s. The shoot is a tribute to the 1980’s Calvin Klein advertisement, which Richard Avedon directed and featured Brooke Shields as the model. Avedon photographed Emma Ferrer, the granddaughter of Audrey Hepburn, for Harper’s Bazaar in August 2014. The shoot was held in Florence, where Ferrer had lived for six years. Glenda Bailey (Bazaar’s editor in chief) came up with the idea to pay tribute to Richard Avedon’s many photographs of Hepburn from the 1950s and 1960s. These images were heavily influenced by the outfits and poses. Joanna Hillman was the fashion editor for the shoot.

Michael Patrick Avedon was the son of John Avedon and Maura Moynihan. He was heavily influenced and involved in counter-culture movements like skateboarding, surfing and punk rock music from a young age. From 7th to 12th grade, he attended York Preparatory School in the Upper West Side. Avedon studied for two years at the School of Visual Arts, Manhattan after he graduated high school. He then transferred to the International Center of Photography where he studied for two more years. Avedon started photography in 2006 and was included in Forbes’s list of “30 Under 30” up-and-coming artists in 2012. He graduated from the International Center of Photography in the spring of 2013. He has worked at Calvin Klein, Louis Vuitton and Harper’s Bazaar.

He has photographed many notable celebrities for Dazed & Confused including Greta Gerwig and Nicolas Jaar. Brooke Shields also covered Under the Influence and Naomi Campbell for Interview Russia.

The October 29 – November 11, 2018 issue of New York magazine included a portfolio of Avedon’s portraits of 25 survivors of school shootings, from a 1946 shooting at the Brooklyn High School For Automotive Trades to the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting.
