Michael Auprince is one of the most popular and richest Australian swimmer who was born on February 21, 1993 in Australia. Michael Christopher Auprince, a Peakhurst, New South Wales native, was born 21 February 1993. His left leg was amputated when he was 10 years old. This was due to a congenital birth defect. Before the surgery, Auprince wore a prosthesis to support his leg. Auprince was presented with a Federal Government award for sports achievement by Banks MP Daryl Melham in 2007. He attended Peakhurst High School, and Georges River College on their Oatley Senior Campus. He plays wheelchair basketball.
Auprince, who was selected to participate in the Under-23 World Wheelchair Basketball Competition, decided to play wheelchair basketball after the 2012 Paralympic Games. Auprince was a member of the Alabama Crimson Tide, University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa 2015.-2019. He won two College National Championships while playing for the Crimson Tide (2018 and 2019). He was also a member of the Wollongong Rollerhawks National Wheelchair Basketball League 2014-2018. In 2019, he joined the Perth Wheelcats. He was a member the Rollers team that won bronze at the 2018 Men’s World Wheelchair Basketball Championship, Hamburg, Germany. Auprince is currently playing professionally in Germany with RSV Lahn Dill.
In 2012, Auprince had four gym sessions and nine swimming training sessions a week. He was selected to represent Australia at the 2012 Summer Olympics in swimming. In preparation for the Games, he participated in a sixteen-day Thailand-based team training camp. While there, he could not fully train as he had to deal with a case of food poisoning. He was scheduled to attend a training camp ahead of the Games in early August in Wales.
Auprince was part of the Australian Paralympic Development Team and trained at Maroochydore in Queensland. He was able to swim up to 12 hours per week that year and broke many age- and classification-based swimming records. In 2009, he represented Australia at the Canadian hosted CanAm Championships. He competed in the Sydney hosted State Age Championships in 2010, where he set two records, one in the 200m multi-disability event and another in the 100m backstroke. He trained as many as eleven times per week that year. He was fifth in the 100m backstroke at the 2010 IPC World Swimming Championships. He was the youngest Australian swimmer to compete at the Dutch-hosted 2011 IPC World Swimming Championships.

Michael Auprince OAM, born 21 February 1993 in Sydney, is an Australian wheelchair basketball and swimmer. He set many swimming records and was chosen to represent Australia in the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London, swimming where he won bronze and gold medals.
Auprince is a S9-rated swimmer. Mick Gauci coaches Auprince, who is a member and coach of the Revesby Swimming Club. Within six months of having his leg amputated, he took up swimming in 2003.
At the 2012 Summer Paralympics he won a gold in the 4 x 100 m freestyle relay and a bronze in the 4 x 100 m medley relay. He also participated in the S9 class of the Men’s 100 m Backstroke, 100 m Butterfly, 100 m Freestyle and 50 m Freestyle events – as well as the Men’s 200 m Individual Medley SM9. He was awarded an Order of Australia Medal in the 2014 Australia Day Honours “for service to sport as a Gold Medallist at the London 2012 Paralympic Games.”
