Melissa Paola Borjas Pastrana, a Honduran football referee, was born 20 October 1986. Borjas received a degree from the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Honduras in Finance and has been a professional referee ever since 2011.
Borjas was the first female official to officiate a match of Liga Nacional de Futbol Profesional de Honduras’ top flight of men’s football. Borjas was then the first female official in Liga Nacional de Futbol Profesional de Honduras to officiate a final match. She did this when she officiated on 26 May 2019 the first leg between Motagua and Olimpia.
Borjas was appointed as a referee at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup. This was announced on 3 December 2018. Following the 16th round, FIFA announced that Borjas had been selected to be one of the 11 referees assigned to the matches in the final eight matches of the tournament.
