Over 50 scientific publications were authored by Nehls, including two with Nobel Prize winners Martin Evans and Paul Greengard. His work was recognized by the American American Association of Immunologists in 2015 as a “pillar of immunologic science” for his contributions to the discovery of a molecular switch that is essential for the development of an adaptive immune system.
Internationally, this was published under the title “Unified Theory of Alzheimer’s Disease (UTAD: Implications for Prevention and Curative Therapy.” He was awarded the Hanse-Award for Psychiatry 2015 by the University of Rostock for his breakthrough in the prevention, treatment, and therapy of Alzheimer’s disease.
Nehls published many books since 2011 on evolutionary history-based behavioral changes that are necessary for healthy aging. He published “The Methuselah- Strategy”, then “The Alzheimer’s Lie”, and finally “Alzheimer’s Can Be Cure” two books on Alzheimer’s disease. In these books, he presents his theory regarding the evolution of this particular form of dementia using evolutionary history and systems biology.
