Mayuko Fujiki is one of the most popular and richest Synchronized Swimmer who was born on June 21, 1975 in Osaka, Osaka Prefecture, Japan. Mayuko Fujiki (Teng Mu Ma You Zi, Fujiki Mayuko; born June 21, 1975 in Japan) is a Japanese synchronized swimming coach. She is the Spanish National Synchronized Swimming Team’s head coach.
As part of the Japanese National Team in 1997, she took part in a Duet competition and won another Bronze Medal at the Swiss Open Championships. Fujiki returned to California in 1998 to join the Walnut Creek Aquanuts. She also participated in the US National Championships in 1998 and the US Open in 2000. She was also among the eight American swimmers who participated in the Rome Open and Spain Opens in 1999, 2000.
Between 2003 and 2010, she worked as a coach for the Spanish National Team. She trained some of the most notable synchronized swimmers of that time, including Gemma Mengual, Paola Tirados and Andrea Fuentes. Spanish Team had a series of breakthrough victories under Fujiki’s coaching, frequently competing for the top three medals with Russia, Japan and US. Fujiki led the team to win three medals in 2003 Barcelona World Championships (the first time for Spain to win a medal in World Championships), 2005 Montreal, and 2007 Melbourne World Championships.
When the Spanish team won the first silver medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the Spanish media recognized Fujiki as the catalyst who not only helped the team to excel, but also revolutionized Spanish training style.
She was chosen to represent Japan in the 1996 World Cup. In 1996, she was chosen to be one the Japan Olympic swimmers. At the Atlanta Olympics, there were no team events. Fujiki’s team won an Olympic Bronze medal.

Fujiki immigrated to the United States in 1992 and attended Las Lomas High School, Walnut Creek, California. She joined the Walnut Creek Aquanuts, a synchronized swimming team that was widely regarded at the time as one of the top in the world. She was taught how to coach by Aquanuts coaches like Gail Pucci, who is a world champion swimmer. Chris Caver from Santa Clara Aquamaide was also a mentor and confidant to Fujiki. These seasoned veterans have continued to be a mentor and guide for Fujiki as she navigates her career.
She met her future teammates, including notable synchronized swimmers Tamara Crow DeClercq (Aquanuts) and Heather Pease Olsen (Horther Pease Olsen). She won the solo-preliminary title at the 1993 U.S. Open Synchronized Swimming Championships, Irvine, CA. After completing her junior year at Las Lomas High School in California, Fujiki moved back to Japan in 1993. After graduating from high school in Japan she moved to Tokyo for Nihon University. There she studied English Literature, and Intercultural Communications. She joined the Tokyo Synchronized Swimming Club while she was at Nihon University.
In 2000, she retired from swimming and began coaching in 2001 at Walnut Creek Aquanuts.
