Maverick “Mav” Weller, born 13 February 1992, is an ex-Australian rules footballer. He played 123 games over a nine-year career with Gold Coast St Kilda, Richmond and the Australian Football League (AFL). His tenures included 32 matches in three years with the Gold Coast Football Club, and 89 matches with St Kilda during five years. He also played two matches against Richmond.

Weller, along with captain Nick Riewoldt, Jarryn Geary and Jarryn Geary were named in St Kilda’s leadership group in 2015. In his second season with the Saints, he played in 20 matches and kicked 12 goal. Weller was banned for one match after he hit Rohan Bewick, Brisbane’s Rohan Bewick, in round 9.

Weller remained a part of St Kilda’s leadership group for the 2017 season, with players Seb Ross, Josh Bruce and Dylan Roberton joining the eight-man group. He played 18 matches (nine wins, nine losses) for the season. He suffered an ankle injury in round 6, which kept him sidelined for the Saints’ win over the GWS Giants in round 7. He was omitted from the senior side for three matches later in the season, before returning in round 19. Weller kicked his 50th career goal in the Saints’ round 10 loss to the Western Bulldogs.

In November 2018 the Richmond Football Club signed Weller to a rookie contract under the AFL’s newly introduce pre-season supplemental selection rule. Weller played in both of the club’s AFL pre-season matches, kicking three goals across the two matches. He made his AFL debut for the club in round 1, kicking one goal. Weller played again for the club’s AFL side in round 2, before being dropped to reserves level to play out the remainder of the season with the club’s VFL side.

After playing only four games in the 2013 AFL Season, Weller was delisted from the Suns on September 2, 2013.

Weller, a 17-year-old from Burnie in Tasmania’s State League junior football, was pre-signed to Gold Coast expansion club. In round 3 of the 2011 season, he made his AFL debut against Western Bulldogs. Weller was also part of the Gold Coast’s historic win over Port Adelaide at AAMI Stadium, 23 April 2011.

St Kilda took Weller in the 2013 Rookie Draft. He made his debut in round 7 of the 2014 season and was then elevated to the rookie list. Weller played 16 games in his first season and kicked three goals.
