He was also a member the Ottawa Rough Riders of the Canadian Football League, the Toronto Argonauts, and the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Prairie View A&M University was where he played college football.
He was signed by the Ottawa Rough Riders as a free agent on September 10, 1982. He was signed by Saskatchewan Roughriders on December 6, 1984.
The Dallas Cowboys selected Teague in the tenth round (273rd overall), of the 1980 NFL Draft. Teague was chosen to play linebacker because he was considered an above-average athlete.
