After breaking up with Bloodpit in September 2007, Matthau Mijojan begins recording his first solo album. It will be released in Finland on March 12, 2008. The single Stiletto Heels is available for pre-release on February 6. The album is named after Matthau. Matthau plays most instruments, with the exception of the drums, which are played by Simo Stenman (The Bitterlicks). Matthau’s live band was composed of his brother Sir Christus. He had quit his long-standing band Negative in January 2008 and joined Matthau’s band until April 2008. This caused a lot of furore. The video for Matthau’s second single, Too Fortunate to Cry, features the brothers together. However, Sir Christus then leaves the band without any drama. Matthau performs at various festivals and gigs in Finland with his live line-up. They are then followed by the Schraubelocker Tour to Germany and Switzerland. Matthau, after the tour is over, announces on his website that his live-line up will no longer be a traditional live-lineup. The name Matthau Mikojan refers to a band that features the following line-up.
Bloodpit is his main focus. On November 26, 1999, the band makes its debut in Tampere. The band experiences many line-up changes over the years. Especially the bass players don’t stay for very long. The band was unable to find a label and released several EPs themselves for promotion purposes. They also participated in many band competitions, winning three of them in a row in 2001. After several performances at festivals, the band is offered a contract with Grotesque Records. However, the label goes bankrupt before the band accepts. Bloodpit finally sign a contract in 2004 with Beemvees/Playground Music and release the albums Mental Circus (2006) and Off The Hook (2008), as well as countless singles and EPs. Live appearances are made in Finland, Russia and Italy as well as the United States and Germany. The title track of the EA Sports computer game NHL 07, which was released in 2006 by the American software company EA Sports, is the single Platitude from Mental Circus. Matthau ends the “Bloodpit” chapter on July 20, 2007. There are discrepancies between the band during the tour and Matthau decides to leave Bloodpit for “personal reasons”. After this, the band takes a break and returns with a new lineup in summer 2008.

He has also performed with Black Jezus, but is not an official member. He plays guitar in Don Skorleone and Consiglieres, another Finnish rock band.
Matthau began playing guitar in his early childhood. He can also play drums, bass guitar and a little piano, and is currently learning how to play the harmonica. According to his own information, his first appearance acoustic was in 1995. He founded a band with Paavo Penkonen in 1994. First, the band was called Turmio. Then RIP, it became known as Bloodpit. Matthau was also a member of other bands, including Lavasateily (for a time with his brother), Shit Kickers and SBT-666.
On February 5, 2009, Rokker Production’s short documentary named Koti, kellari ja kuppila (in English “Home, loft and bar”) has its premiere. On March 4, 2009 Matthau’s second album, Mania for Life is released. It’s the first album where the name “Matthau Mikojan” covers the whole band, not just Matthau as a solo artist. The album gets a warm reception by fans and critics. On March 2010 Teemu Broman leaves the band and is replaced by Janne Sundvall.
