Stankiewitch was a redshirter at Penn State in 2008, before starting two games as left guard in 2009. Stankiewitch was instrumental in helping the Nittany Lions to gain more than 500 yards total offense three times during conference play. This included 546 yards against Indiana. This is its highest total against a Big Ten foe, since it gained 557 yards against Michigan State back in 2008. Stankiewitch was the Penn State’s most active player during Joe Paterno’s final season as head football coach.
Stankiewitch graduated in 2008 from Blue Mountain High School, Pennsylvania. Stankiewitch was an all-state player in football after his senior and junior seasons. Stankiewitch started as a left guard in Under Armour All-America Game, and he also started at center in Big 33 Football Classic.
He was released from injured reserve on August 20, 2014 after sustaining a left hand fracture.
