Matthew Jude Griffin (born May 9 1998) is a American pro-football coach and former college player. He was the head coach at UTM from 2003 to 2006, and Murray State University. University of Tennessee at Martin (UTM) from 2003 until 2006 and at Murray State University from 2007 until 2009, accumulating the record for a college career with 21 victories and losing 58 times.
Griffin was appointed the head coach of football in the football program at Murray State University on December 12th the 12th of December, 2005. In his first year the Racers finished 1-10 overall, as well as 0-8 during OVC play. As of 2007, they barely made it to 2-9 overall, while playing in the conference. The third season of Griffin was his finest as he led the Racers to 7-5 overall and a 4-4 record in conference. In his fourth year the Racers dropped to 3-8 overall, and two-six for OVC play. After four consecutive losses and an overall mark of 11-23, Griffin was fired on November 16th on the 16th of November, 2009.
Griffin became the head coach of football for the University of Tennessee at Martin on the 10th of December 2002. The Skyhawks did not win an OVC game for seven years before his appointment. Under Griffin the team had increased to 4-4-0 during Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) play and a 6-2 overall record before the end of his third season in 2005. It was the first winning year of the Skyhawks since 1993. Griffin was then awarded with the Tennessee Sports Writers Association as Tennessee’s College Football Coach of the Year for the year.

Griffin was a graduate of The University of New Hampshire in 1992 with a bachelor’s diploma in the field of political science.
Griffin was a professional coach in 1992 until 1993 in Plymouth State College in New Hampshire. Then Griffin was a part of his current team at University of Richmond in 1994 before transferring to Northeastern University from 1995 to 1996. Griffin returned to the college level in 2013 as director of player personnel at Georgia Tech. Griffin was fired from Georgia Tech in May of 2014 after he was accused of abusing his expense account.
