Matt Dunigan (born December 6 1960) is a American broadcaster, and former professional footballer and executive. The broadcaster is also a Canadian Football League (CFL) sportscaster for the Canadian sports TV channel TSN. Dunigan was a former player and coach as well as an executive of the CFL. He was inducted into the CFL Hall of Fame on June 6, 2006. was a member of to the Canadian Football Hall of Fame and was named as one of the CFL’s top 50 athletes (#39) in the modern era of the league by Canadian sports channel TSN.
Dunigan entered Dunigan’s CFL in 1983, playing for his team, the Edmonton Eskimos. In his debut season, he was paired with Warren Moon. Before his 1984 CFL Season, Moon left to join his NFL’s Houston Oilers and the Eskimos became Dunigan’s squad. Moon played the Eskimos to consecutive Grey Cup appearances in 1986 and 87, which they won in 1987. He had to sit through the majority of the game from the sidelines due to injuries. His replacement during this period came from another CFL legend, Damon Allen.
He left for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers the following season, where he spent the next three years. The Bombers went to the Grey Cup in 1992, only to lose to the Calgary Stampeders. They returned to the Grey Cup in 1993, and lost to the Edmonton Eskimos. Dunigan watched the 1993 Grey Cup on crutches, after tearing his Achilles tendon. However, the season saw him break a club record throwing for 36 touchdowns. On July 14, 1994 he made pro football history when he passed for 713 yards in a 50-35 victory over his former team, the Eskimos.
In 1995, the CFL made an attempt to further expand into the United States. The Memphis Mad Dogs tried pursuing Dunigan, but eventually landed Damon Allen. Dunigan landed in Birmingham to play for the Barracudas. This led to his best season statistically, as he passed for 4,911 yards and 34 touchdowns. In the home finale, he broke his throwing hand and watched the rest of the season from the sidelines. The Barracudas would lose in the playoffs to the San Antonio Texans. The American experiment failed, and all the U.S.-based teams folded. The lone exception was the Baltimore Stallions which relocated to Montreal, Quebec.
Dunigan was a freshman in the college football league. Dunigan was a part of eight games in the same position as his predecessor as the starting quarterback Mark Buchanan. Dunigan was chosen as to be the starter quarterback for the season of 1980 by head coach newly hired Billy Brewer. Dunigan’s greatest collegiate performance came in 1982, as a senior, when he threw 222-213 in total yards of 2,843 yards with 23 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions. Dunigan was the team’s leader, leading the Bulldogs to an overall record of 9-2 with an unbeaten 5-0 performance within the Southland Conference, a #2 rating on the Sporting Network poll, and the first time that the team was able to play to the playoffs for Division IAA. Following a 38-3 quarterfinal victory on the road with South Carolina State, the Bulldogs were eliminated from the playoffs after an 17-0 semifinal loss to Delaware.

After a first round bye, the Argos won against Winnipeg in front of a packed out SkyDome, and advanced to the Grey Cup. However, in that playoff game, Dunigan broke his collarbone. He was able to throw the length of a hotel ballroom after doctors deadened his shoulder. In minus 19 degree weather, he threw two touchdowns and won his second Grey Cup.
