He is currently a free agent, who has was most recently a part of the CBR Brave of the Australian Ice Hockey League (AIHL). Climie has also played with his time in the National Hockey League with the Dallas Stars and Phoenix Coyotes.
In his second season, Climie was awarded the CHA the athlete of the season, and Honorable Mention for the preseason All-U.S. college hockey online. Despite these accolades Climie continued to play with Sedevie. He was not perfect throughout the year , finishing with an 8-7-2 mark with the 2.70 GAA and one shutout. With Clime in the net, the Beavers took their second consecutive CHA tournament and made it into the NCAA tournament, but lost at the beginning of the round. In the first week of his junior season, Climie was unable to keep his cool, and conceded 11 goals in the initial three matches. He bounced back from the slow start but with no regular backup goalie Climie was a part of every single one of the Beavers games. He ended the year with the top GAA of his college career with 3.03 and won just 1 more match than he was able to lose, and finished with an 11-10-5 mark. Despite the lowest stats in his professional career Climie was selected to the First-Team All-CHA. The 2007 CHA tournament Climie gave up 6 goals against Robert Morris University losing 7-5 in the opening round. In the match Climie had 19 saves as Bemidji State allowed 4 power play goals over eight opportunities. In his final year of college there was some uncertainty as to whether Climie would be the goalie of the team’s first choice. He was the starting goalie throughout the whole season, and compiled an overall record of 14-8-3 with an average of 2.16 GAA with 5 shutouts. The shutout record established the BSU one-season mark, and Climie was named as a member of the All-CHA second team. In the first round of 2008’s CHA tournament, BSU won a 2-1 victory over Wayne State, with Climie not making more than 10 saves during the penalty-filled 4-1 game. BSU was beaten in the next game, which was the tournament’s final with a 3-2 loss against Niagara with Climie having 12 saves in the match. Clime ended his four-year tenure as a goalie at BSU with a record for shutouts in a career with 12 and his 45 wins set a record for the school in Division I wins. He is as the 2nd best goalie in BSU history, with a .909 saving percentage. He ranks is third in time played by goalie with 5,427 and sixth in saves with 2,201.
Climie began his junior hockey career as a backup goaltender to his brother, Chris, for the Kimberley Dynamiters in the America West Hockey League. During the playoffs the team went bankrupt and ceased operation. As a result, Climie joined the Bonnyville Pontiacs in the Alberta Junior Hockey League. After one season he was traded for $500 to the Truro Bearcats in the Maritime Junior Hockey League (MJAHL). Following the trade Climie had to drive almost 3,000 miles to join his new team. He played the final two seasons of his junior eligibility with Truro. In his final season with the Bearcats he finished with a 30–10–5 record and led the MJAHL with a 2.61 goals against average (GAA). He was named an MJAHL All-Star, the season’s Most Valuable Player (MVP), and won the league’s “Best Goaltending Duo” award with teammate Daniel Turner.
After four seasons with the Chicago Wolves, and season professional seasons in North America, Climie signed his first contract abroad in agreeing to a deal with German club, the Straubing Tigers of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga on May 12, 2015.
In the off-season, he renewed for a one-year two-way contract. He spent the major portion of his season for the newly-formed Texas Stars, but was called up and appeared at one time for Dallas. As the playoffs began, Climie served as the second goalie however a head injury to Brent Krahn raised him to the position of starting. With Climie in the net, the Stars progressed into their Calder Cup Finals. In the finals, they will face the heavily-favored Hershey Bears, Texas took an 2-0 lead in the series at home. In game 3, the Stars were able to take a 3-1 lead before they conceded 5 consecutive goal to Hersey losing the game 6-3. The Bears took the next two games, giving them a 3-1 series lead and the chance to take home the Calder Cup in game 6. With Texas being eliminated, Climie was substituted in place of Krahn who was able to return from injury. Texas was defeated 4-1 as Hershey claimed its eleventh Championship.

Following his graduation from college, Climie agreed to sign a 1-year deal for the Dallas Stars. To join with the Stars American Hockey League affiliate The Iowa Stars, before his contract started, he entered into an amateur tryout contract for the last twelve games in the season 2007-2008. He played in six games for Iowa with a record of 1-4-1 with an 3.99 GAA. For the start of the 2008-09 season Climie has been assigned to Stars ECHL affiliate, the Idaho Steelheads. Due to an injury to Stars goalie who was the team’s starting goalie Marty Turco Climie was called to replace Idaho as an emergency call-up. When he received his appointment, Climie was the top goalie in by a wide margin in ECHL by scoring goals against an average. Climie played the NHL debut on the St. Louis Blues. In the game, Climie had 22 saves in the 5-4 Stars overtime win. He was the fifth goalie to be crowned the winner of the game in his NHL debut against the Stars on April 4 2009. Climie began three games in a row, being 2-1-0, registering an 2.92 goals-against average as well as an .894 saving percentage. Climie was assigned to the Steelheads within six days of his debut. He was unable to reach an arrangement with Dallas Climie signed a one-year two-way contract as a no-cost agency to the Phoenix Coyotes. Climie started the year with Coyotes AHL affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage. After playing for 20 games, Climie was brought back to the Coyotes to play in the backup goalie position Jason LaBarbera, while starter Ilya Bryzgalov was suffering from the flu. The game of December 20 in which the Coyotes played Pittsburgh Penguins Pittsburgh Penguins LaBarbera gave up five goals in the initial two periods before being taken off. Climie joined the game and played for 32 minutes and made 15 stops on 16 shots. The game was the only one that he was a part of for Phoenix. In the final game of the season at San Antonio he set a record for games played, with 56. The offseason is when Climie is back on the team by signing a one-year contract to his current team, the Vancouver Canucks. Although it was deemed an odd move considering the depth of goalieing in the Canucks and the possibility of a trading one of Vancouver’s most experienced goalie could lead to an NHL chance. Climie is assigned to Canucks affiliate, the Chicago Wolves. Climie was once called up for the Canucks to act as the back-up of Cory Schneider following an injury to Roberto Luongo, but did not play on the field. In a team with Wolves starting Eddie Lack the duo set the franchise record for the most team GAA with 2.54. Undrafted after his junior career, a 20-year-old Climie signed a letter of intent with Bemidji State University (BSU). He was projected to be the Beavers’ third-string goaltender, despite being named one of the top ten goaltending prospects to join an NCAA Division I university. As a freshman Climie split time as a starter with Layne Sedevie, after Sedevie struggled in his sophomore season. In his first game Climie recorded a shutout against the Bentley College Falcons. In the College Hockey America (CHA) tournament Climie recorded back-to-back shutouts, defeating Air Force 6–0 and Alabama–Huntsville 3–0 in the tournament’s championship game. By not allowing a goal in the tournament BSU became the first team of the existing Division I conferences to win the league tournament without allowing a goal. For his performance in the two victories Climie was named tournament MVP. Winning the CHA tournament earned BSU automatic qualification into the NCAA tournament. The Beavers matched up against defending national champion the University of Denver in the first round. Climie made 45 saves in the BSU 4–3 overtime loss. He finished the year posting a 12–5–1 record with a 1.80 GAA and 4 shutouts. His GAA was the lowest at BSU in 40 years and second lowest in the history of the CHA, while his four shutouts set a BSU freshman record. At the end of the year he was named to the CHA All-Rookie Team.
