He also been a part of the State Basketball League for the Perry Lakes Hawks, and has played in the Qatari Basketball League and the Big V.
In the year 2010, Burston moved back to Melbourne and joined the Tigers which he played for three seasons. In 2013 when he was participating for the team in Qatar with Al Rayyan, Burston and his team took home the Emir Cup.
On June 22, 2009 Burston joined his team the Adelaide 36ers for the 2009-10 NBL season.

Burston made his debut with the NBL for the Perth Wildcats during the 2000-01 season. He played for the team until 2006. Then, in 2003, Burston received the NBL Most Excellent Player Award.
In April of 2006, Burston signed a one-year contract for the South Dragons. Burston played the majority during the season 2006-07 in a weakened state playing in only few games. Burston remained as a member of the Dragons for two more seasons , and was part of the team that won the 2009 championship.
On 25 July 2013, Burston signed a one-year deal with the Cairns Taipans. On 30 May 2014, he re-signed with the Taipans on a two-year deal. On 5 August 2016, the Taipans parted ways with Burston after not offering him a new contract for the 2016–17 season.
