Motoyama was born in Kitakyushu on the 20th of June 1979. After graduation from high school He was accepted into J1 League club Kashima Antlers in 1998. The club’s debut was in July 1998 , and participated in numerous matches throughout the 1999 season. The year 2000 was the time that Antlers were champions the three major titles from Japan; J1 League, J.League Cup and Emperor’s Cup for the first occasion during J1 League history. The club also became the title of champions in for 2001 J1 League for 2 years consecutively. The year 2002 was the time he received his # “10” shirt as Bismarck successor. Antlers also became champions title in the 2002 J.League Cup.
