Lokomotiv Sofia signed Martin Kamburov on January 9, 2009, for a three-year contract. The club gave him his number 19 jersey. Kamburov made a great beginning to the season, scoring 10 goals in six games, and scoring a stunning hat-trick in the Loko Sofia’s home game with Levski Sofia on 11 April 2009, helping players from the Nadezhda district to secure an historic win of 3:0. Kamburov was the top goal scorer during the 2008/2009 season of the Bulgarian A Professional Football Group with 17 goals all in all which is a feat of grandeur considering that he only played half of the games. At the end of winter 2009 Kamburov received the most effective forward award of the A PFG award again. Around the same time the player was selected for the Bulgarian national team and his selection was greeted with enthusiasm by the majority of Bulgarian supporters.

On 18 December 2012 Kamburov signed a one-and-a-half-year deal with CSKA Sofia. His official debut came in the 0:2 home loss against Litex Lovech on 2 March 2013 and he scored his first goal on 31 March 2013 in the 3:0 home win over Minyor Pernik. Kamburov made his first appearance in The Eternal Derby on 27 April 2013, coming on as a second-half substitute in a match that was lost 1:2 by his team.

In the summer of 2013, Kamburov rejoined Lokomotiv Plovdiv. He became the league’s top scorer in the 2013–14 season for fourth time in his career with 20 goals in 35 matches.

Kamburov concluded the 2009/2010 campaign with 29 games as well as 16 scores.

Born in Svilengrad Kamburov started his professional career with Botev Plovdiv, but then changed to the local team Lokomotiv Plovdiv, with whom they won the top Bulgarian league A PFG, in 2004 and also the bronze medal in 2005.
