He graduated in 2002 of EMA Higher Drama School (now the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre) located in Tallinn under the direction of director, actor and theatre educator Elmo Nuganen. Some of his classmates from the school who graduated included actors Elisabet Reinsalu Priit Voigemast Ott Aardam, Hele Korve, Karin Rask, Evelin Voigemast Maria Soomets, and Argo Aadli.
Mart Toome made his television debut in the episode on his TV3 show Kodu Keset Linna in 2003. The show was followed by a small part on the Eesti Televisioon (ETV) children’s television show Buratino Tegutseb Jalle in the same year. The year 2006 saw Toome was seen as Taavi in one episode from Ohtlik lend, an ETV Crime-drama show Ohtlik lend. Toome has also appeared in a number of other Estonian television shows which include The Kanal 2 crime-drama Kelgukoerad in 2007 and then again in 2010 and on the hit TV3 comedy-crime show Kattemaksukontor in both 2010 and in 2015, as well as his appearance for The Kanal 2 crime-drama series Viimane vomm. He also was host of the show that was a comedy of games Peitusemeistrid which aired on Kanal 2.
In 2014, Toome joined the cast, in a starring role, of the Kanal 2 comedy series Parim enne as Doctor Mart. In 2015, Toome appeared as Sten on the Kanal 2 comedy series Takso, starring Jan Uuspõld. Toome took Ardo Ran Varres’s place in the Estonian language dubbing of the Nickelodeon animated television series SpongeBob SquarePants, or Käsna-Kalle Kantpüks, starting with the show’s seventh season.
Following his graduation from the EMA Higher Drama School in 2002, Mart Toome began an role as an actor in The Tallinn City Theatre, where the actor is currently employed. The most notable roles he has played since joining Tallinn City Theatre include those in stage productions of various playwrights and authors such as Shakespeare, Dostoyevsky, Yeats, Dumas, Chekhov, Steinbeck, Waugh, Ferenc Molnar and the late Aleksey Nikolayevich Tolstoy, David Mamet, Slawomir Mrozek Carlo Gozzi, Ann Jellicoe, Tennessee Williams, J. B. Priestley, and Otfried Preussler, to name a few. Some of his most notable performances in roles played by Estonian writers and playwrights include the work of Eduard Vilde, Anton Hansen Tammsaare, Jaan Tatte, Diana Leesalu, and Paavo Piik.

Mart Toome (born 7 March 1980) is an Estonian stage, television and movie actor.
Toome’s debut feature film came as Miljan on the 2002 Elmo Nuganen directed period war film Nimed marmortahvlil for Taska Film. The film was a re-creation from the Albert Kivikas penned novel of the same title, which chronicles students from Tartu who join the fight during 1917-1920 during the Estonian War of Independence. He starred in a minor role in the Peeter Urbla-directed comedy drama Stiilipidu for Exitfilm which follows three females (played by Maarja Jakobson, Anne Reemann, and Evelin Voigemast) who lose their jobs and establish the business of renting costumes.
Mart Toome is in a long-term relationship with Aveli Kadastik. The couple have two children; a daughter Marta born in October 2010, and a younger son. They currently reside in Tallinn.
