The Dutchman made his first appearance for Jong Ajax on 19 August 2016 in the Eerste Divisie match with FC Den Bosch. He was replaced by Vince Gino Dekker in the second minute of the 82nd, in the 5-1 home win.

Bay is a young player of Brondby IF, but in 2013 he joined the Ajax youth program. He signed a 3 year youth contract with Ajax. Bay began as a player in the B1 team and then he joined the A1 team along with Donny Van de Beek as well as Abdelhak Nouri. In the middle of the winter break that season , he suffered an injury by a groin injury. From then on it was a long time before he could return for 1.5 years due to the injury and didn’t get completely recovered until 2016. Bay said the fact that this was a difficult time for him, and he was preparing to end his career due to this injury.
