Waddington has joined Kilmarnock as a loan player on the 24th of June 2016 and was paired with the former Blackpool Manager Lee Clark who he previously worked under his club. On the 23rd of July, 2016 Waddington began his first game for Kilmarnock beginning at the start of Kilmarnock’s Scottish League Cup tie at home against Greenock Morton, playing 55 minutes before being substituted. On the 13th of August Waddington made his debut in the 90th minute as a replacement to Jordan Jones to make his debut as a league player with Kilmarnock as they played in the Scottish Premiership away to Hamilton. The 31st of August, 2016, the loan deal Waddington signed to Kilmarnock was terminated and he was sent back with Stoke City.

On 3 January 2019 Waddington joined Scottish Championship side Falkirk on loan until the end of the 2018–19 season. Waddington played 14 times for the Bairns who finished bottom of the league and were relegated to the Scottish League One.

Waddington was signed by Stoke City in July 2015 together with Blackpool teammate Dom Telford. Waddington was dismissed at the request of Stoke at the close of the 2018-19 season due to not breaking into the first team.

At the age of 17 Waddington made his debut in the first team of the club on August 12 2014, in the 60th minute of a substitute in an League Cup fixture against Shrewsbury Town. On the 9th of January after he refused a PS200-a week pro-contract, Waddington and fellow youth player Dom Telford were turned away from the training facility at the hands of Blackpool Chairman Karl Oyston and told to be part of the club’s youth team until they agreed to his offer. On February 13, 2015, Waddington fractured his fifth metatarsal of his right foot in training, which put his out of the remainder of 2014-15’s season. The news was then announced that he’d need to undergo surgery on his right foot.

Waddington began his football career at Blackpool in which he rose through the ranks of youth on Bloomfield Road and into the club’s first team during the season 2014-15. He was signed by Stoke City in July 2015. He didn’t make it into the squad of Stoke and spent time as a loan player at Scottish clubs Kilmarnock as well as Falkirk. He was signed by Barrow in June of 2019.

On 28 June 2019, Wadington joined National League side Barrow on a one-year contract.
