Mark Santel (born July 5 1968, in St. Louis, Missouri) is a former U.S. soccer midfielder who is currently an assistant coach with the Saint Louis Billikens. Santel was a professional player for the Major Indoor Soccer League, American Professional Soccer League and Major Soccer League. He also played eight times for the U.S. national team between 1988 and 1997.

In 1991 in 1991, in 1991, the Wichita Wings of Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) selected Santel the number one overall pick during the 1991 MSL Draft. Santel was born in and was raised at Saint Louis, Missouri. He was a soccer player from the age of 13 as a part of the well-known local team Scott Gallagher. He also went to Christian Brothers College High School where he was a member of the team of boys and was awarded MVP team honors in 1985. He was also an NSCAA as well as a Parade All- American. After finishing high school, Santel was a student at Saint Louis University where he was a part of the team of men’s soccer. He was a member of the 1989 Second Team player and an first and a first Team All American.

As of 1987, Santel played for the United States men’s national under-20 soccer team in the 1987 FIFA World Youth Championship. Santel was able to win thirteen caps with one goal as a senior player of the U.S. national team between 1988 until 1997. His first appearance as a full member of the national team was the January 10 defeat in 1988 against Guatemala. He did not play in his national squad until the week of February 1st 1991. Then , he was only playing sporadically until his final game in 1997. His goal for the national team was during a November 14, 1993 hammering from his home island of the Caymen Islands. The final score was 8-1.

In December 2004, he was hired as the sales and marketing representative for Velocity Sports Performance, a sports training facility in Chesterfield, Missouri.
