Mark Dickson is one of the most popular and richest Association Football Player who was born on December 12, 1981 in Tampa, Florida, United States. Mark Dickson (born 12 December 1981) is an ex-professional semi-professional player who hails from Northern Ireland. His football career began as a player at Northampton Town, for whom only made one first-team performance during the Football League Trophy, before returning to his homeland and playing in the teams of Newry Town, Larne, Linfield, Crusaders and Donegal Celtic. He took home his Irish League and Cup double during consecutive seasons for Linfield and played the winner in the final for Crusaders during the 2008/09 Irish Cup Final.
At the beginning of January, 2005 Cliftonville presented an offer to the player, but did not meet the PS20,000 value of Larne. In March it was reported that the Sunday Mirror was calling Dickson “the most sought after player in the Irish League”. While Larne’s chairman claimed that Dickson was “easy going and quiet” Dickson was content with his club, they recognized “his talent [would] take him elsewhere”. They had hoped that he would leave to a different part of Northern Ireland, so that there would be a transfer fee due; however, a move inside the Irish League would attract only “development compensation” of around PS6,000. He scored a hat trick against Loughgall in the quarter- finals in the Irish Cup and a 59th-minute penalty that saw him defeat Ballymena United – whose manager Kenny Shiels saw him as Larne’s “main threat”, having unsuccessfully attempted to sign him in the last transfer window at the quarter-final stage. In the final Larne was able to take an early lead with the help of Neil Ogden before being outclassed by Portadown which won 5-1. According to the newspaper’s players’ ratings Dickson “has proven that he can get goals when he is given some service. He never got any in this game and was a hugely peripheral figure as a consequence”. The report said that “it hurts to receive such a hammering”.
Although Dickson was concerned that playing on through his injury had made the problem worse, and might be damaged further if he remained in the Premier League, he signed for Donegal Celtic. He scored his first goal for the club in stoppage time against Crusaders to tie the scores at 4–4, leaving time for Paul McVeigh to snatch a winner from the penalty spot. He finally had his cartilage operation in early November, and was playing again within weeks. By the end of the season, he was fit and had helped Donegal Celtic stay in the Premier League, but rearranged shift patterns in his day job as a postman meant he was no longer available for Saturday football and he announced his retirement:
The Cup win gave Crusaders entry to the qualifying rounds of the Europa League; Dickson started both legs against FK Rabotnički, who won 5–3 on aggregate. He scored the first goal of the 2009–10 County Antrim Shield final victory over Linfield, but his season was disrupted by a knee injury, which the player believed was exacerbated by Crusaders’ artificial pitch. At the end of the season he was out of contract, but on a lengthy waiting list for an operation on his knee.
The Irish League was to be changed for the 2003-04 season as well as the four top teams of the First Division would be promoted. In the month of October 2002 Dickson made the goal in the game with Limavady United to give Larne their first win at home since opening day and put them in the automatically promoted positions. The team was in the top four and the last place for promotion was in between them and Bangor throughout the remainder in the year. The eighth and final goal scored by Dickson, which was the sole goal of the match in the match against Ballyclare Comrades, took them third in the first week of March. The month of April saw Larne had to lose at the hands of Ballymena until Dickson struck back with a 12-yard (11 m) shot and a stoppage- time goal by Mark Parker took them above Bangor in goals-to-goals. In the next season, Dickson scored the only goal of the match against Armagh and left Larne with a draw from Bangor on the final game of the year in order to ensure their promotion into the Premier League. Larne’s goal was scored after the “free kick from the right seemed to strike Dickson on the back of the neck to loop over [the goalkeeper]’s head” and “some stout defending”, resulted in a draw.

A young Dickson came back to Northern Ireland in the summer of 2000. He landed on a position as a civil servant. Then, he signed semi-professional terms with Newry Town, amid competition from Portadown and Lisburn Distillery for his services. He made his debut on the pitch by making use of Crusaders defense flaws in order to “bundle in the untidiest of goals” in the event that Newry beat them 3-1 on the first morning of 2000-01’s Irish League season. The goal came after the goal was an “athletic overhead” off the crossbar and a shot parried that led to an equalizer late against Omagh just two weeks later the manager of Newry suggested the “young Dickson showed the signs of a good forward”. His shot was enough to force Ricky Culbertson into an own goal that earned Newry their first win against Ballymena United for ten years and helped ease fears of being relegated as a goal that was headed the next day against Omagh was the catalyst for Newry’s comeback from 2-0 behind to win 3-1.
Dickson was born in Belfast. As a youngster in the city, he was a member of his County Antrim under-16 side that made it to the quarterfinals of the 1997 Milk Cup, losing to eventual winners Middlesbrough F.C., and was also a part of Belfast Schools. He emigrated into England in order to be a part of Northampton Town for a young trainee, but only made one appearance for the first team at the end of round two of the Football League Trophy on 11 January
- He was an extra in the second half as Northampton fell to Bristol Rovers in a penalty shootout. While at Northampton He was also called for his Northern Ireland under-17 team for an informal match against Wales and also played as an under-18 player in European Championship qualifiers. Dickson finished his 2-year contract with Northampton but due to reasons of finances, the club was not able to retain him.

Dickson re-signed for Newry, but his form of the previous season dipped. Lowlights of a 1–0 defeat to Ards – that club’s first win of the season – included Dickson’s failure to score after the goalkeeper had rushed out of his goal to clear and missed the ball, then shooting over the bar from six yards. He was left out of the starting eleven for some time, but returned against Glentoran to produce “what would have been a contender for goal of the season with the match delicately poised when he stole possession 45 yards from goal, cut inside Chris Walker, beat Paul Leeman and just when he was about to pull the trigger, Walker recovered to concede a corner”. With the club in financial difficulties, Dickson was one of several players transfer-listed in December 2001, and he dropped down a division to join Larne a few days later.
