Mark Gerard Connolly (born 16 December 1991) is an Irish footballer who is a player with Scottish Championship side Dundee United. Connolly previously had a stint with Bolton Wanderers, St Johnstone, Macclesfield Town, Crawley Town and Kilmarnock. Connolly has also played for Ireland at under-21 level. Republic of Ireland at under-21 level.

15 May 2012 Connolly announced on Twitter that he was leaving Bolton. It was then confirmed by Bolton’s club that Connolly was among the twelve players who were released by Bolton following their transfer in the Championship.

In his second season, Connolly remained at the club after being linked with a move to Championship clubs following his performances during the previous season. He spent most of the first half of the season on the bench before regaining his first team place. Connolly then scored his first goal of the season, with a header, in a 1–0 win over Notts County on 29 December 2013. He went on to make 40 appearances in all competitions. Despite the club starting negotiations over a new contract, Connolly was among 11 players released at the end of the 2013–14 season.

On 22 February 2015, Connolly was injured during Kilmarnock’s 3–3 draw against Inverness Caledonian Thistle and it was later confirmed he had broken his collarbone with the injury expected to keep him out for the remainder of the season. He returned from injury earlier than expected against Motherwell on 8 May 2015.

On July 9, 2012 Crawley Town announced that Connolly was signed by the club on a contract for two years. Connolly later said that he signed with Crawley due to an opportunity to try his hand at in first team football. Connolly began his career on the 14th of August, in the League Cup match as a right-back against Championship team Millwall that ended with a score of 2-2 which resulted in Crawley winning 4-1 with penalties. He made his debut in the league for Crawley in the first match of the year with a 3-0 victory over Scunthorpe United. In the latter part of August 2012 Connolly played in the Crawley team that beat Bolton during the League Cup thanks to a final minute goal from Nicky Ajose. On November 12, following an earlier absence from the team, Connolly spoke of his delight at returning to the squad and playing regularly in first team matches. On January 1, 2013, Connolly scored his debut Crawley Town goal in the 5th minute in an 3-0 win against Colchester United. At a home game against Brentford on the 26th of February, 2013 Connolly conceded a penalty, and was handed the red card following 50 seconds. Crawley losing 2 to 1. Connolly was able to return after being off the field for five games against Crewe on the 26th of March, 2013. Connolly’s twelfth goal for the club came on the 20th of April 2013, during the 2-1 defeat against Oldham Athletic. In his debut season at Crawley Town Connolly had two goals in his 35 games played in the team’s first season.
