Marjory Heath Wentworth (born June 3 1958) is an American poet from the United States. She was appointed in 2003 by the Governor Mark Sanford as the sixth South Carolina Poet Laureate in 2003.
She is married filmmaker Peter Wentworth and they have three sons. She was first introduced to her younger brother Jack and wed shortly after they graduated from college on June 27, 1981. The Wentworth family relocated into Sullivan’s Island, South Carolina and resided for a long time from 1989 until the time of their death. After their move, however the hurricane Hugo struck the region hard and the family was unable to stay in their home for nearly a whole year. It was at this period when the third baby was born. The family then moved to the nearby Mount Pleasant in 2004.
