In 1973, aged 17 years old, she participated in her first Wightman Cup, an annual female team tennis tournament that takes place between United States and Great Britain as a partner with Chris Evert in the first doubles rubber. Redondo was a member of the World Team Tennis for the Los Angeles Strings in 1974 and in 1975, the San Diego Friars in 1975 and the Seattle Cascades in 1978.
In January 1978 she took home her first title at the Avon Futures of San Diego by beating Pat Medrado in the final in straight sets. In the Futures Championships in Atlanta in March, she finished second to Julie Anthony.
