In April of 2004, Simioni was named the head coach of German first division team Krefeld Pinguine, but was fired a month later in October, following winning just three of the first ten matches of 2004-05’s season. Simioni returned to Denmark and was appointed the role of head coach for SonderjyskE at the end of December in 2005. which began the “golden era”. Under Simioni’s direction the club was where he played in the 90s (named Vojens IK back then) was able to win the following four Danish championships (2006 2009, 2010 2013, 2012) and the bronze trophy four times (2007 2008, 2007 and 2012) as well as three Danish Cup championships (2010 and 2011, 2013) as well as a bronze award at the 2011-11 IIHF Continental Cup. Simioni left SonderjyskE following the 2012-13 season.

Simioni left Herning after one year to join the coaching staff of the Hamburg Freezers of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) in Germany as an assistant to Serge Aubin. However, the Hamburg team folded in May 2016 and a couple of days after this announcement had been made, Simioni was named head coach of the Frederikshavn White Hawks of the Danish top-flight Metal Ligaen.
