In January 2017, Leitgeb was back in Austria and signed with Bundesliga side Wolfsberger AC on a one-and-a-half year contract. Leitgeb signed a two-year contract extension on March 29, 2019. On 19 September 2019, Leitgeb made his European debut in a UEFA Europa League group stage away match against German club Borussia Monchengladbach. In what was described as a “miracle”, he scored two headers against a passive Monchengladbach-defense and thereby became a vital part in Wolfsberger’s 4-0 thrashing.

Following the signing of an agreement with the his former team Sturm Graz in January 2016 Leitgeb then joined Swiss team FC St. Gallen on an agreement for six months.

Leitgeb began his professional career with the Styrian capital Leitgeb was a player for Sturm Graz. He was a member of the club’s academy from 2006, at which point Leitgeb was promoted into the reserves team. From 2006 to 2008 Leitgeb played in 25 games with the reserves team with one goal scored. In 2008 Leitgeb was recalled to SC Austria Lustenau from the second division. At the beginning of January, during the transfer window for the 2011-12 season Leitgeb was hired with Grazer AK, but left with mutual consent only six months when the club was unable to secure promotions into the Austrian Bundesliga. He instead continued his career at SV Grodig, where he played in 63 league games over two seasons. On June 12, the 12th of June 2014 Leitgeb agreed to a contract for three years for three years with Austria Wien for an undisclosed amount.
