Marie Purvis (born 24 September 1961) Now called Marie Morgan, is an English former racer she was a representative of Great Britain at the 1992 and 1996 Summer Olympics. She was the winner of the British National Road Race Championships at five times.

She had her best finish in the Olympics in the 1996 Games road race, in which she finished 11th. She was withdrawn from international competition in the same year.

Purvis set an all-new British hour record at the Manchester Velodrome on 10 March 1995. Purvis beat Mandy Jones’ previous mark set in 1981 by more than two miles.

The couple later married John Purvis, a Manx cyclist who finished third in the Road Race of the 1979 Commonwealth Games. Marie first began to cycle at 26 years old to increase her fitness levels and endurance, but she soon stepped up to competitive racing, and twice broke records in the Isle of Man women’s 10-mile time trial record in 1988. Marie was chosen as a representative for on the Isle of Man at the 1990 Commonwealth Games, and in the same year she took home the first British Road Racing title – she was the king of the race during the first half in the 90s. She won five of six national championships from 1990 until 1995. She won her last crown in 1995 at the Isle of Man. She was third in the Road Race of the 1994 Commonwealth Games.

She was one of the few British cyclist to be the winner of a stage in the contemporary Tour de France Feminin since its inception in 1984 after she was the winner of one stage in the 1993 race. She followed it with another stage victory in the race’s 1995 edition.

In 2001, she returned to her roots in athletics when she won gold in the half- marathon at the 2001 Island Games.
