Mariana Nery Brochado (born December 18th 1984, in Rio de Janeiro) is freestyle swimming from Brazil. She was awarded silver in the female 200-meter freestyle race at the Pan American Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. She is a member of the Clube de Regatas do Flamengo swimmers, she was a part of her country’s team at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece.

In the 2003 Pan American Games in Santo Domingo, Brochado won silver in the freestyle 4x200m surpassing records. She broke the South American record, with the time of 8:10.54 Alongside Monique Ferreira Ana Muniz and Paula Baracho. She also took home silver in the freestyle 200 meters. Even though these gold medals from 2003 Pan have drawn more attention to her name, prior to her departure for Santo Domingo, Mariana represented Brazil at the 2003 World Aquatics Championships, in Barcelona in the third out of three World Championships that she played at the time she made it to the semifinals of the 200-meter freestyle. She surpassed her own South American record by scoring 2:01.17 the best time she has ever recorded on a long course in her career. She also took the 15th position overall at the test. Additionally, she assisted in the 4×200-metre freestyle team to secure the qualification for Athens by securing 12th place, which was which was a great moment throughout her career. Also, she took the 19th spot in the 400m freestyle.

At Brazil Trophy, in 2004, cemented her status as the best Brazilian in the race, and secured his place in the national team that would go to the Olympic Games in Athens 2004.

At the 2005 World Aquatics Championships in Montreal, finished 19th in the 400-metre freestyle and 13th in 4×200-metre freestyle.

She competed in the 2002 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in Yokohama in Japan, where she set records. She broke the South American record of 200-metre freestyle, with a time of 2:01.45. She was also part of the 200-metre freestyle final coming in 8th place. In the 4×200-metre freestyle she took the finals placing 5th and breaking her own South American record with a time of 8:15.80. She also placed 6th in the freestyle 4×100 metre.

One of the main figures in Brazilian sporting activity, Mariana entered the Flamengo’s swimming school at four years old. Three years after, she was part of the team for infants. The first state championship came in 1998, which was the same year she made her debut at high-level competitions. All through her career, she has defended the black and red colours of Flamengo which is the club close to her heart, but she was constantly snubbed by other swimming teams that have more efficient training facilities.
