Mariella Torres was trained by her father Mario Balbuena Gonzalez (also known as Gran Apache), who is Mexico’s most prominent trainer of female wrestlers. At 17 years old, she made her debut under the ring name Princesa, an imitation of her Native American father’s ring character. After making her debut, she started working for AAA because of her father’s position at Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide, Mexico’s biggest wrestling promotion. She adopted “Love”, a masked character in the ring, as her new ring role in late 1996 or early 1997. AAA didn’t hide her identity as Gran Apache’s daughter, even though she was disguised. Torres received a new character after the “Love” character lasted only six months. She was a part the AAA stable Los Cadetes Del Espacio’s female version, and wrestled as “Lady Venum”, a female version Venum. In 1997, she teamed up Lady Discovery and Lady Luxor to create Las Cadetas del Espacion. Las Cadetas teamed with Xochitl Hmada to defeat Martha Villalobos, La Fugitiva and La Migala in the opening match at 1997 Guerra de Titanes. Soon after Guerra de Titanes Torres quit AAA, she gave the character of “Lady Venum”, to her younger sister Fabiola Torres. She also adopted the ring name Mari Apache. Mari traveled to Japan to get more experience in wrestling, and she wrestled for various Japanese all-female promotions like All Japan Women’s Pro-Wrestling. Arsion saw Mari Apache defeat Chaparita Asari, on March 15, 2000 to win the Sky High of Arsion Championship. Apache was defeated by Chaparita Asari on March 15, 2000 to win the Sky High of Arsion Championship. This happened at an Arsion event held in Nagoya (Japan).
Mari Apache returned home to Mexico in 2007 and started working for AAA full- time. Mari supported her father Gran Apache during a long-running storyline between Gran Apache, Mari’s sister Faby Apache and Billy Boy, Mari’s “love interest” and real husband. Gran and Mari Apache won the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship on November 30, 2007 during the 2007 Guerra De Titanes. Gran defeated Faby Apache, Espiritu, La Diabolica, Ayako Hamada, and Mr. Niebla. They would defend their title against Super Calo’s team and Rossy Moreno. The storyline between Gran Apache & Billy Boy morphed into Faby Apache fighting Mari Apache in the spring 2008, which split the family. Gran Apache and Mari Apache defended the mixed tag title against Faby Apache, Billy Boy and Mari Apache on April 20, 2008. The Reina de Reinas 2008 Reina de Reinas tournament was dominated by the story of the feud between the sisters. Mari defeated Chikayo Nagashima and Martha Villalobos as well as Sexy Star, Sonoko Kato, and Sexy Star to reach the finals. Faby Apache, her younger sister, defeated Mari and Ayako Hayada in the finals to win the 2008 tournament. Triplemania XVI was the conclusion of the feud between sisters. Faby Apache beat her sister in a Lucha de Apuesta hair vs. head match. After the match, Gran Apache came to Faby’s ring and begged her to shave Mary instead of her hair. Gran Apache’s sacrifice brought the family together. Gran Apache and Mari successfully defended their mixed tag team title in 2008 against El Oriental and Cinthia Moreno. However, they were unable to beat them for the fourth time. They lost the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship on September 14, 2008. Mari teamed up with Faby often over the next year, but she wasn’t part of the “family feud”, which led to Faby Apache facing Billy Boy. Faby Apache was then attacked by Jennifer Blade and Rain from La Legion Extranjera, which caused her to lose Reina de Reinas to Sexy Sar at Heroes Inmortales III. This was when Mari Apache got involved in the storyline. Faby, Mari and Cinthia Moreno were faced against La Legion members Sexy Star Rain and Christina Von Eerie at the 2010 Rey de Reyes Event. Moreno won for her group by pinning Sexy Star. In a post-Rey de Reyes interview, Sexy Star stated that Cintia Moreno and the Apaches were only maids. AAA booked a Triplemania XVIII match with Cinthia Moreno and Faby against Sexy Star Rain and Jennifer Blade. The match would see the winner’s slave for a month. Triplemania La Legion beat Moreno and Apaches when Blade pinned Mari. This was partly due to biased refereering from Hijo del Tirantes. Konnan instructed Mari Apache to immediately begin her maid duties by cleaning up the dressing room after the match. This stipulation was void on July 6, 2010. The stipulation expired on July 6, 2010. Mari defeated Sexy Star in the final to win the Reina de Reinas Championship.
In 2017, Apache relocated to Japan, where she began working regularly for World Wonder Ring Stardom. It was also announced that her daughter Natsumi had started training professional wrestling and would debut in Japan. On August 13, Apache defeated Shanna for the High Speed Championship. On September 24, Apache made her first successful title defense on against Hiromi Mimura. On December 24, Apache defeated Starlight Kid for her second successful title defense.
