Walker started playing professionally in 1988 at FC Grenchen, before moving to FC Lugano. He signed for FC Basel in 1992 and his performance earned him a call up to the Swiss national team. In 1996, he was promoted to the Bundesliga with TSV 1806 Munich. In 1998, he signed for Tennis Borussia Berlin and was then called up to the Swiss Super League as a player with FC St. Gallen. Walker signed for FC Aarau in 2002, but he wasn’t a regular on the first team. He played six games in his first season, and ten in his second. In January 2004, he returned to Germany with 1. FSV Mainz 2005 but he also struggled there. He played 17 games in Mainz and ten in the reserves. From 2005 to 2006, he played for the amateur Swiss side, BSC Old Boys Basel. He retired in 2006.
He was the assistant manager for FC Basel’s U18 team from 2005 to 2008. He was appointed assistant manager of FC Concordia Basel in 2007. In addition to his work at FC Basel, he also worked as a fitness coach for various FCB junior teams. He was appointed Christian Gross’ assistant at FC Basel on 16 January 2009. However, Gross was soon fired and Thorsten Fink took his place. Walker became a fitness coach, and was still part of the original team.
On 21 March 2019, he was appointed as manager of BSC Old Boys.
