Granollers played for the victorious Spain Davis Cup team in 2011, losing the doubles rubber (with Fernando Verdasco) in the quarter final against United States.

He defeated World No. In the final, he defeated World No. 8 James Blake. In the semifinals, he had saved two match point. He and Pablo Cuevas had lost the doubles final on the previous day. After Rafael Nadal announced that he would not be playing in the Davis Cup Final at Argentina 21-23 November 2018, Captain Emilio Sanchez of Spain announced that Marcel Granollers would take his place. Granollers made this Davis Cup debut, but he didn’t play any matches.
