Marc Anthony Magro, born August 23, 1984, is an ex-American football linebacker. In 2008, he was undrafted-free and signed by the St. Louis Rams. He played college football for West Virginia.
In 2006, Magro saw moderate starting time at middle linebacker. Magro played at outside linebacker alongside Boo McLee. Magro had six tackles and one tackle for loss in the Friends of Coal Bowl against Marshall to start the season. Magro also recorded a record five tackles against Eastern Washington, which was a team best. Magro recorded six tackles and three pass breaks-ups in the Maryland win. Magro recorded four tackles in the win over UConn and one tackle for a loss. He was unable to tackle South Florida in the win, but still managed three tackles. Magro was awarded the Gridiron Gladiator Award by Rich Rodriguez at the conclusion of the season, as well as the 2006 Iron Mountaineer Award in recognition of his efforts in the winter workout program.
Magro earned the starting job in 2007 at middle linebacker, playing alongside Mortty Ivy and Reed Williams. Magro, along with Eric Wicks was named to the Lott Trophy watch list. In his final collegiate game, the 2008 Fiesta Bowl win over Oklahoma, he recorded four tackles. He finished the season with 64 tackles, three sacks, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery.
Magro was signed to the practice squad of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on November 12, 2008. He replaced wide receiver Brian Clark, who was promoted to the active roster. Magro was released on December 3, 2008.
Jay Henry was Magro’s backup linebacker in 2005. As a third-year sophomore, Magro recorded 41 tackles, including three in the Wofford win. Henry was hurt in the East Carolina game, so Magro had nine tackles, two passes sacks and forced two fumbles. Magro recorded 8 tackles against Virginia Tech and one tackle for loss. In the win over UConn, Magro had a crucial seven-yard sack. In the Sugar Bowl 2006, he had two tackles against Georgia and also recovered a fumble. Rich Rodriguez awarded him the Ideal Mountaineer Man Award after the season.
