Marc hails from the San Francisco Bay Area and was, with Joe Satriani during the 1980s, one of the most prominent rock guitarist teachers in the Bay. Marc moved to LA in early 1990s to work in TV and movie scoring. He was nominated for an Emmy in 2001. He also had cameo roles on Nightman, which was about a criminal-fighting saxo player. In several episodes, he performed with his band and was the musical director. He has played guitar in many films, including The Replacements and Spiderman 2. He was also a lecturer at LA’s Guitar Institute of Technology. He now lives in Los Angeles with his wife and son and has recently completed a new ground- breaking album with Keith Emerson titled The Three Fates Project with the Munich Radio Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Terje Mikkelsen and has finished work on an album “Beyond The Stars – Keith Emerson” with the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields and also the follow-up long-awaited third guitar instrumental album called Celluloid Debris available exclusively at www.marcbonillamusic.com. He currently tours with Harry Shearer, aka Derek Smalls of Spinal Tap, playing guitar and bass.

There have been a few solo albums. EE Ticket (Reprise 1991) and American Matador (1993 Warner Brothers 1993), both of which include covers of “A Whiter shade of Pale” (with guest Ronnie Montrose).

In April 2017 Bonilla and Eddie Jobson began the “Fallen Angels Tour,” a tribute to the music of John Wetton & Keith Emerson, commencing at London’s Under The Bridge venue at Chelsea F.C.’s Stamford Bridge stadium on 22 April.
