Mara Reyes is one of the most popular and richest Racing Driver who was born on March 12, 1977 in Pachuca, Mexico. Mara Reyes, a Mexican stock car racing driver, was born March 12, 1977. After some success in NASCAR Mexico Series she began one race in what is now known as the NASCAR Xfinity Series. This was in 2005. Reyes is currently racing in the Super Copa Telcel under sponsorship by Arris Group.
2000 saw Reyes travel to Phoenix, Arizona for Bondurant’s Racing School. Reyes would be joining the Autofin Team for the Mustang Series. This would see her improve to fifth place in the overall standings. As a Continental Tires Team member, she would win the Trucks Series championship. In 2001, she would win her Truck Series Championship again. She also participated in Dodge Pick-Ups Series where she was second; and she took fifth in Ford Mustangs Series. She was awarded the Scuderia Rodriguez Organization’s “Best Driver of the year Award”. She finished third in the Dodge Pick-Ups Series in 2002 and was a top ten finisher in the Mustang Series in 2003. Unfortunately, 2003 proved to be a disappointment due to lack of sponsorship. Despite finishing well, she was only able to participate in three races over the course of the year and finished in third when she withdrew.

Reyes tried to join the Mustang Series in 1997. She finished fifth in her first race. She was forced to quit the series due to lack sponsorship. However, she continued to race in the Neon Series. She won one race, finished second in another and was a tenth place finisher in the annual standings. She finished fourth in the Truck Series Standings. She participated in four series: Neon Mustang, Truck, and Formula Mexico (old skip-barber’s formulas). She was awarded the Scuderia Rodriguez Award and finished second in overall truck series standings. She also took seventh place in Formula Mexico Championship and ninth in Mustang Series overall. She was the only woman to take part in all of these Series. She would return to second place in the Truck Series in 1999 and improve to eighth in the Mustang Series. In the final race of the year, she finished in second. She received the Ford Motor Company’s “Press Award”, the Scuderia Rodriguez Foundation’s “Best Female Driver Award”, and the Hidalgo Government’s “Sportswoman of the Year Award”.

Reyes was 10 years old when she began racing as her father’s codriver in Mexico-Cuernavaca Rally. She was 14 when she became a driver in a regional championship. Her VW Beetle was a tube VW Beetle. She finished in the Top 5, and was Rookie of Year among 35 other drivers at the championship. Reyes participated in the National Resistance Championship’s GT II series in 1992. She competed in 24-, 24-, 6-, 12-, and 4-hour races. Reyes finished sixth out of 30 drivers in her first 12-hour race. She also placed 11th in championship standings. Reyes was promoted to the GT III series in 1993 and placed 9th in the championship overall. Reyes was awarded the Sport Merit Award by the Government of Hidalgo, Pachuca.
She continued to participate in the GT III series in 1995, where she won many podiums. She was invited to represent Mexico at the “3rd Shell’s Grand Prix Series” in El Salvador in the Super-Tourism Series. She was awarded a special award by the El Salvador authorities and won third place in her category and fifth in the general race. She competed in the “Neon Series Challenge” with her father. There, she won a Pole Position and placed 11th in the Championship. This was out of a total 80 drivers. She also started racing Nissan Prototypes as well as Trucks at the same time. However, she only participated in four races. Daimler-Chrysler Mexico invited her to participate in the Skip Barber Racing School driver course at Sears Point. She was still competing in the Neon Series for the Chrysler Racing Team and earned three Pole Positions (one 1st and one third) and finished 12th out of 120 drivers. She finished 8th in the Trucks Series Driver Standings.
Despite her sponsorship difficulties in 2003, 2004 would see Reyes join The Scudería Telmex Team, participating in the new NASCAR Series in Mexico, Desafío Corona. She became the first Mexican and Latin woman to get a NASCAR license. In the inaugural race, she would win the first pole position in the history of stock-car racing in Mexico. She won several races on the circuit, finishing in sixth place in the driver standings. During the year travel to the United States to participate in NASCAR events. In North Carolina, she practiced in a Winston West NASCAR event, followed by her participation in a race in Irwindale, California, where she qualified in twenty-first place (out of 26 cars), and was the only Mexican driver to qualify. During the race she was in tenth place when she was issued a black flag, losing a lap, and finished eighteenth. In 2005, she would become the first Latin Woman ever to drive in the NASCAR Busch Series. She also took part in the Mexican NASCAR Series with the TELMEX team, finishing in eighth place on the final standings.
