Manuel Antonio “Manny” Rojas Zuniga, a former football midfielder from Chile who was born June 13, 1954 in Santiago (Chile), is now a retired player. He represented Chile at the 1982 FIFA World Cup, in Spain. His professional career took her from Chile to Mexico, and then eventually to the United States. He played in the North American Soccer League for two seasons, and four more in the Major Indoor Soccer League.
Rojas was also the coach of the Chicago Soul soccer team in 2012, before being fired midseason following a 2-7 start.
Rojas has a lot of coaching experience, most notably at the youth level. While with Chicago Power, he was an assistant coach. He was also an assistant coach for the Libertyville and Vernon Hills high-school soccer teams. He was appointed the Chicago Soul’s head coach in the MISL on September 25, 2012. However, he was fired on December 2, 2012, after the team went 2-7. He now coaches at Trevian Soccer Club, Illinois, and works with young players every day.

Rojas’ time with the Chilean national team spans from 1976 to 1982. He was then selected for the Chilean team that competed in 1982 FIFA World Cup in Spain. This year marked the end of his national team career. He received the Chilean National Sportsmanship Award 1978, and 1981.
Rojas started his professional club in Chile with Palestino, the First Division club. For the 1975 season, he moved to Mexico Club America. He signed with Universidad Catolica in Chile at some point and was then on their roster for 1981-82. He moved to the United States in 1983 and signed with the Tampa Bay Rowdies (NASL) of the North American Soccer League. To lead the team’s scoring, he scored eight goals in 29 games. Rojas was released by the Rowdies on March 23, 1984 and signed with the Golden Bay Earthquakes a few days later. In exchange for Ricardo Alonso, Charlie Fajkus, the Earthquakes sent Rojas, Hayden Knight, and Hayden Knight to Chicago Sting on July 10, 1984. Rojas was reunited with a team that was on the rise when the Sting won 1984 NASL championship. He scored one goal in the regular season but added two in the post-season. This included one in a 2-1 win over the Toronto Blizzard, in the first round of the championship series. The Sting joined the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) after the 1984 NASL season ended. Rojas was with the Sting through the 1987-1988 MISL season. He rejoined the Rowdies that summer. They were playing in the American Soccer League at the time. The Rowdies signed with Chicago Power, the expansion of the American Indoor Soccer Association. Rojas was with the Power all the way through 1990-91, scoring seven goals in twenty one games to help the Power win the AISA championship.
