Manjula Chellur, who was born 5 December 1955, is a former Chief Judge of Bombay High Court. She was the first woman Chief Judge of Calcutta High Court. She also served as Chief Justice of Kerala High Court. After reaching the age of superannuation, she resigned her office.

The Division Bench of Kerala High Court, which consisted of Justice Vinod Chandran and Chief Justice Chellur, ordered that the state government submit a statement on the highly publicized rape case against P. J. Kurien, Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha. In March 2013, V. S. Achuthanandan, a prominent Marxist politician and Leader in Opposition, requested that the state government not be allowed to request an earlier hearing in another investigation into “Ice Cream Parlour sabotage” which involved an ice cream parlour allegedly used to lure women and girls into prostitution in 1990s.

From 21 June 2008 to March 2010, Chellur was the President of Karnataka Judicial Academy. She was also the executive chairman of Karnataka State Legal Service Authority. She was made Acting Chief Justice at the Kerala High Court on 9 November 2011. Since 26 September 2012, she has been Chief Justice of Kerala.

Chellur was born and raised in Karnataka. After receiving her bachelor of arts degree at Allum Sunmangalamma Women’s College, Bellary she went on to receive her law degree at Renukacharya Law College in Bangalore. The Supreme Court of India sponsored her to go on a Gender & Law Fellowship to the University of Warwick in England in 1977. Chellur was awarded an honorary doctorate by Karnataka State Women’s University in 2013.

She was elected District and Sessions Judge in 1988. In addition, she served as Principal and Sessions Judges for Kolar (and Mysore) She was also Chief Judge of Court of Small Causes and Principal Judge of Family Court at Bangalore. She was appointed judge of Karnataka High Court on 21 February 2000.
