Mancow Muller is one of the most popular and richest Radio Personality who was born on June 21, 1966 in Kansas City, Missouri, United States. Matthew Erich “Mancow” Muller, born June 21, 1966, is an American radio and television personality and actor. He was also a former child model. His career was known for its controversy and clashes in the Federal Communications Commission. Mancow’s Morning Madhouse is a Chicago-based syndicated radio program. The Mancow Radio Experience has been distributed nationally by Talk Radio Network. Muller also starred alongside his brother Mark in the reality TV show God, Guns & Automobiles, aired on History Channel. He hosted the morning show at WLUP/FM/97.9 until he was fired on March 6, 2018, after WLUP/FM/97.9 was sold.
Jim de Castro, President of Evergreen Media, offered Muller a job at twice his salary. He was moving to Chicago to work for “Rock 103.5” (WRCX). Muller’s radio program, Mancow’s Morning Madhouse, was launched in July 1994.
Between 1999 and 2004, David Edward Smith’s Citizens for Community Values filed 66 indecency complaints with the FCC relating to Muller’s program, leading to 6 citations and $42,000 in fines. In 2004 Muller sued Smith for harassment and business interference, but later dropped the lawsuit. Emmis Communications entered into a 2004 consent decree with the FCC, agreeing to make a $300,000 “voluntary payment” to resolve the complaints; in 2006 (after Muller had ended his WKQX show), the FCC rejected Smith’s challenge to this settlement.
His show, however, was not without controversy. In 1999, Janet Dahl, the wife of Chicago talk radio host Steve Dahl, filed a multimillion-dollar lawsuit against Muller over lewd comments Muller made about her on his show. In 2001, the case was settled out of court. Although the terms of the deal were not disclosed, it reportedly reached seven figures.
After his hometown success, Muller moved to Kansas City, California, for a short stint at KDON-FM, Salinas. He then moved north to San Francisco, KYLD-FM “Wild 107”, and returned to Kansas City. In 1993, Muller, now known as Mancow at college, made national headlines when he pulled a publicity stunt that caused major traffic problems for San Francisco. Muller created a parody of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge incident during rush hour in response to the subsequently discredited story that President Bill Clinton had clogged up traffic at Los Angeles International Airport for more than an hour. While he used vans to block westbound lanes of the bridge, his sidekick, Jesus “Chuy”, Gomez received a haircut. Muller was arrested for creating a public nuisance as a result of this publicity stunt. His sentence consisted of three years probation, $500 fine, and 100 hours community service. He entered a no-contest plea. Radio station paid $1.5 million to settle a civil lawsuit, which included $500,000 for three toll-free bridge days.
