Rasmussen began her professional career in Paris (1985). She was inspired by the creative friction that results when people from different backgrounds come together. This is how she discovered her roots and developed a musical expression in the new genre of crossover and world music. She was a session musician in Oslo during the 1990s. She also studied at Telemark University College and at the Norwegian Academy of Music. Later, she pursued a master’s in philosophy at the University of Oslo.
