He also set a school record with 3,316 yards rushing and a school record for TD’s (35), and also caught 43 passes to 458 yards. [3]

Everett was selected by the Birmingham Stallions as the 149th pick of the 1983 USFL Draft in the 13th round. Everett reported to the Birmingham Stallions camp but he didn’t want to play, as his mother suffered a heart attack on the day he was due to report. After spending a week at camp, Everett was released by the Birmingham Stallions and Everett became a free agent for the Philadelphia Eagles. After being in the USFL camp, he was the first to be signed by an NFL team.

Everett went to New Hebron High School. The Golden Bears won the 1977-78 Mid- South Conference Championship with coach John A. Flynt, going 11-1 in their senior year. Everett was named All Conference runningback and All Conference defensive back.

He played on all special units and even forced a Cowboys kickoff return player to throw a ball that resulted in a touchdown. [11]

Born and raised in New Hebron, MS, as one of eight children (five brothers and two sisters) of Carlie and Velmon Everett. In April 1984, the town of New Hebron recognized his accomplishments with a Major Everett Day. Major Everett married Valarie Barrett in May 1988; they have two sons Major Everett, II (b. 1991) and C. Myles Everett (b. 1994). Major also has a son, Brian Gale (b. 1979). The Everett’s share their time between Mississippi, Georgia and Pennsylvania.
