Maija Saari is one of the most popular and richest Association Football Player who was born on March 26, 1986 in Vaasa, Ostrobothnia, Finland. Maija Karoliina Sari, a Finnish international footballer, is a defender. She has represented Umea IK, Mallbackens IF, Umea IK and Umea IK in Sweden and Kolbotn, Stabaek Fotball Kvinner and Valerenga at the Norwegian Toppserien as well as FC Honka, HPK and FC Honka in her native country. Saari was the first woman to play for Finland’s women’s football team and has been a captain since 2007.
Saari, who had spent 2013 with Mallbackens IF, returned to AIK in the 2014 season. She signed a two-year contract with Stabaek Fotball Kvinner in December 2015, and she was ready to return to Norway.
Saari, then the captain of the national team, was subsequently unable to compete in the UEFA Women’s Euro 2013. She sustained a cruciate ligament injury and was ruled out.

Saari, a strong and left-sided defender, won three consecutive domestic titles with FC Honka, 2006, 2007 & 2008. After moving from Vaasa, her hometown, to Helsinki at the age of 10, she joined the club and became the club’s captain. Saari signed a 2-year contract with Umea IK in December 2008. She played in 2011 for Kolbotn Fotball, the Norwegian Toppserien. After that, she returned to Sweden with AIK.
On 7 March 2007, she made her senior Finland debut, playing 90 minutes against Sweden at the Algarve Cup. Saari also participated in all four matches of Finland at UEFA Women’s Euro 2009 including the quarter final loss to England.
